08/02 Greenham Estovers (616) Feeder

Location: Greenham Estovers(616) Feeder
Session: 08-Feb-2017 07:45 to 11:15 hrs
Headlines: A few birds around early including several Great Tits, probably they outnumbered Blue Tits around the feeder. After a promising start capture became sporadic and slowed to just the occasional bird. We put a net up in the gorse scrub which accounted for the Bullfinch and Robin. Last year’s matching visit was not as many as I thought but had some winter finches that so far are absent on the common!
Weather: Overcast, dank, cold calm to slight breeze.
Present: JL, GB, IW
Nets: 46metres, a 12m net each side of feeder and one at right angles, 10 metre in gorse scrub. Up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeders): Niger(1), black sunflower, peanuts, black sunflower
