28/04 Greenham Common

Short visit to the Western Enclosure 28-Apr-2017 06:00 to 09:45hrs (needed to be back early)
48metres of net in 3 rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 06:30 to 09:30hrs
Present JL, IW
Lures: tried for Redstart and Pied Flycatcher.
Captured 3: a male and female Blackcap and recaptured the male Dartford Warbler ringed on the 11th. Not much activity for the time of year, very quiet even Linnet numbers have dropped off. On the way out saw a 616 Lapwing with at least one chick; not big enough to ring.

Todays male Blackcap (1st CY old alula and some brown still in the cap)
Nothing unusual about today except the 1st Tree Pipit of the year for me; still quiet unlike last year no Greenfinch or Goldfinch breeding in the gorse scrub yet; just fly-over of the latter.
