28/08 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 28-Aug-2017 07:00 to 11:00hrs
Headlines: With an eye on this week’s weather forecast, today looked to be the best day for ringing so I decided to do a not to early session with a view to leaving before the masses arrived. As it turned out several people were out "before it got hot". It was fairly quiet on the people front all the same. We had a good session. Not much a first but what must have been a movement of Chiffchaff arrived at around 08:15hrs when we captured 18 in one round including 12 Chiffchaff and two Willow Warblers. Over the whole session we captured 24 Chiffchaff and four Willow Warblers; a phylos morning. Tomorrow looks OK for ringing so I will see how I feel in the morning.
Weather: Bright, sunny warm, calm, hot
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 66metres in four rides of 18M, 18M, 12M, 18M up from 07:30 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Willow Warbler and Whitethroat intermittently.
