26/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Headlines: First opportunity to ring out on the common for a while. I wasn’t sure if to put the Blackcap, Chiffchaff song on but glad I did. Many Redwings took interest some landing in the bushes along the rides, just one captured though. Not much reaction from the many Meadow Pipits nearby. We did better than the matching 2016 session which was similar except for the warblers.
Weather: Low damping cloud early lifting later, cool, calm, slight breeze at the close

Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:15 to 10:15hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Redwing, Siskin, Redpoll, Meadow Pipit, Yellow-browed Warbler intermittently

I checked some Winterbourne Holt nest boxes yesterday (25th) This is what Box 26 looks like, bit of an over-development and the hornets still active, where are the Honey Buzzards when you need them!

Sightings 26 Species: Small flocks of Redwings over a good flock of Meadow Pipits
