Session:
Headlines: A quieter session than
expected, maybe the disruption, Thursday and Friday , caused by taking down the unstable dead tree and
rebuilding the feeder support cable affected the capture
but probably not. We had Stephen Vickers one of Owain Gabb’s trainees with us
today to get a Marsh Tit; we got him one, a re-trap. Although the
session capture was lower than it might have been a look at the 2016/17 winter
matching visit confirms this year so far to be good for 1st calendar year Blue Tits; not so good for Great Tits at this site.
Early captures in good numbers tailed off as the session progressed and no
late flush. We usually get a few Great Tit late on, only four today. The
session ended on a high note when the coffee van turned up providing a really
good and welcome cup. After nets down we replace the pulley installed on Friday
with a more robust one.
