15/11 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 15-Nov-2017 07:30 to 10:30hrs
Headlines: The weather looked good at dawn but then the fog came down. There are still a few new Goldcrest moving through or maybe in. Fewer Redwings came out of the fog, all bar one missing the nets. No sign of any winter finches or much movement in the scrub. I enjoy ringing at the western enclosure as you never know what might turn up and except when it is really busy it is possible to relax, do a bit of birding or just chat to those passing who enquire how it is going.
Weather: Slight breeze early, then thick fog as the wind dropped, fog began lifting as we left site.
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metes in three rides of 18M, 18M, and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Redwing, Siskin, Redpoll, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Yellow-browed Warbler, Meadow Pipit, Blackcap and Chiffchaff intermittently

Sightings 19 Species: No much happening bird-wise as migration appears to be all but over. Four Bullfinches in the scrub the only sign of incomers. Still the one Dartford Warbler and Stonechat in the area. Not seen a Woodlark for a week or two, bet they are around somewhere though.
