07/03 Snelsmore Common

Location: Snelsmore Feeder
Session: 07-Mar-2018 07:30 to 11:30hrs
Headlines: A steady trickle of one to four per round today and a pause of about an hour when nothing came to the feeder. As yesterdays visit birds were all up in the tree tops singing, displaying and feeding. The pause mid-way through seemed longer than it was, you can’t good for a wander here, many comings and goings by the general public so it is risky to let the net go out of view. Not one of the best visit 09’s for this site but much better than last winters equivalent and a bit of variety. It is not often that four Blackbirds are captured in a session these days. One had a wing length of 139.5mm and weighed 131.9grms, probably a continental. Not a bad session, enjoyable.
Weather: sunny period, cool, some breeze but sheltered
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 24metres 6M net each side of feeder, 12M net 8metres at the back up from 08:00 to 11:00 hrs
Lure (feeder): fat balls, niger, black sunflower, peanuts
