15/07 Thatcham Marsh LNR visit 2018.08

Location: Thatcham Marsh LNR CES visit 2018.08
Session: 15-Jul-2018 05:30 to 10:30hrs
Headlines: Conditions ideal for ringing except perhaps the sun a little too bright on the nets. The session went very quickly for some reason. We had a good steady capture for most of the morning. 32 in the standard nets is below the average of 43 for visit 08, range 1997-89 2016-23. Reed Warbler numbers are down on the 2017 matching visit but Sedge Warblers are a little up. Three once regular species captured Marsh Tit, Garden Warbler and Willow Warbler are now scarce here and indicative of disbursal/passage. The majority of birds captured are juveniles as is usual from the rest of the season
Weather: Sunny, warm, clear, calm
Present: JL, IW, JHW, VG
Nets: 216metres in two rides, 198m reed bed standard net ride and 18m scrub additional ride up from 06:10 to 10:10hrs
Lure (none):
