Session: 22-Jul-2018 06:45 to
10:15hrs
Headlines: another good capture
of sylvia warblers, might have been even better had we noticed that the prime
player had stopped at about 09:00 for about 20 minutes; during the period we
were only trying to lure Lesser Whitethroat and Redstart! Had to intercept
four people who were investigation where the repetitive songs were coming
from; had quite a nice chat they came from Whitchurch, just down the road. It
is good that once you say we are ringing birds as seen on Autumn Watch very
little further explanation is needed. The Garden Warblers almost matched
Blackcap which we cannot recall happening before. We are beginning to wonder
if we have missed the Willow Warbler return or they had a bad year, hopefully
numbers will pick-up soon. It was very hot by 10:00 and a lot more people were
about; time to leave.
Weather: mostly overcast, very
warm, calm with an occasional light breeze.
Present: JL, IW, JHW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 07:15 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap,
Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Willow Warbler, Garden Warbler, Whitethroat,
Lesser whitethroat, Redstart intermittently.
