Session: 22-Aug-2018 06:55 to
10:15hrs
Headlines: It was damp and
misty (mizzle) when I arrived. As I was erecting the first net three Yellow
Wagtails flew over West, so I tried their calls but no response. An early
flurry of birds did not sustain, it was a quiet session compared to yesterday and
last year’s matching visit. Two Lesser Whitethroats in a session is good for
us though. Had intended to keep the nets up until 10:30hrs but the mizzle came
down again, so we finished early.

Sightings 26 Species: There was a
good passage of Swallows today all flying directly West in small groups for
most of the morning,.Some warblers in nearby scrub did not react to the audio. Nine Woodlark flew up from quite close. The two Stonechats were unusually skulking for this species, we found them deep in the middle of a bush when searching for warblers. It is interesting to note how some of the "resident" species change from day to day, no Wrens or Dunnocks located on the heath today but, unlike yesterday, we found Blackbird and Robin.
