17/10 Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Today, unlike yesterday, it was really quiet with few birds moving or flying about. The setup was as yesterday, nets were up by 08:00hrs too. We only captured two birds: a Goldcrest and a Chiffchaff. Three Lesser Redpoll called just after arrival and Reed Buntings (two) were calling nearby as I put the nets up. Three Stonechats were on the heath to the west,  the first appearance of this species here for about a week. A group of three Redwings flew over. As yesterday, one or two unidentified groups of finches flew over; we thought them to be mostly Chaffinch. It was a bit of a struggle to fill the time today, lots of walking about and why we finished early at 10:00hrs. We will see what tomorrow brings.
