Session:
Notes: Food uptake at the
feeders has slowed this week, so a lower capture was not a surprise. We did
much better than the 2017 equivalent though and the difference reinforced the perception
that particularly Blue Tits had a good 2018 breeding season. Fewer Goldfinch have been
visiting the feeder and Greenfinches seem to have switched to visiting later.
A good capture of Blue Tits today and Great Tits feature here proportionally more
than at the other feeders. The 2015 Great Tit had not been captured since it
was ringed until today; wonder where it has been. The majority of the recent
recaptures were from a pre-visit made on the 21/10/2018.
Weather: Light breeze, getting
colder, clear
Present: JL, IW, DL, RJC, JPM
Nets: 24 metres in three rides
around feeder. Up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeder): niger, niger, black
sunflower, peanuts, black sunflower
