Session: 23-Aug-2019 07:20 to 11:15hrs
Notes: Not so many Blue Tits
on the move today. Unfortunately the Swallows that went over today did not react to
the audio. Didn’t see the Tree Pipit drop in, it was a nice surprise when IW found
it in the net. The ninth Lesser Whitethroat of the season; still hoping to get
10. No Willow Warblers today and just the one Garden Warbler, these species will tail
off over the next week until next year, as will Lesser Whitethroat. A better
capture than last year’s matching visit. A good week 34 (four days) ringing; 128 birds of 17 species.
Weather: sunny periods, quite
warm, calm.
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 07:45 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): misc. migrants,
warblers, redstart, swallow intermittently

Today's Tree Pipit, a junvenile
Sightings 30 Species: Fairly quiet
but not as quiet as yesterday. Swifts spotted when looking at soaring Red Kite. A flock of about 25 Swallows rested on the bunker fencing. The Willow Warbler
was singing as I put the nets up; the only detected today. The Cormorant is the first seen over for a few
weeks. There may have been two Dartford Warblers following a group of four
Stonechats.
