03/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk40)
Session: 03/10/2022 07:40 to 11:10hrs
Notes: Was hoping that we might see a winter thrush or two, maybe next time. Changed the audio to match the time of year. Tried calling in Reed Bunting, ringed one, a few others about though. More Goldcrest brought with them a male Firecrest. Still some Chiffchaff going through also a Blackcap. We had processed 22 until we went to take the nets down when we found we had got a flock nearly all in one net, mostly Long-tailed Tit and Blue Tit, 18 in total.
Present: JL,IW,NC
Weather: sunny periods, calm, cool
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures: BC-CC-FC-GC, Thrushes, Yellow-browed Warbler, Reed Bunting, intermittently.

Recaptures: (02)

Blue Tit                      ringed: 29/07/2022

Goldcrest                   ringed: 02/09/2022

Sightings:  No hirundines today, a few Cormorant on the  move and a couple of Grey Wagtail over. Skylark going west, an increase in the number of Blackbird, perhaps some visitors from the north, also four Chaffinch.
