07/01 Snelsmore Common Feeder

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder CES 2023/24.05.
Session: 07/01/2024 07:40 to 11:20hrs
Notes: The first two rounds were very busy, after it quietened down. Blue Tits dominated, they seem to have had a very good breeding outcome for 2023, other species not so busy. The flooding and heavy rain of the past couple of days has stopped access to the Bagnor Feeder, Winterbourne stream too deep to cross and the field too wet, boggy and slippery to drive on. See the visits schedule below - equivalent visit 5 03/01/2009 was very busy 165 birds in total: 83 Blue Tits, 49 Great Tits, and 23 Coal Tits.
Present: JL,IW,JHW,RAD,KMB.DL.
Weather: Sunny periods, calm, cold.
Nets: 12M of nets, 6M each side of the feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs.
Lures: Feeders with Fat Balls, Sunflower Hearts, Peanuts.

Sighting: It was very quiet, and we probably missed a few while ringing etc. Not heard the Raven
here for a couple of weeks now, perhaps nest sitting already!
