Location: Greenham Common
Western Enclosure wk33
Session:
16/08/2024
07:35 to 10:50hrs
Notes: Seems to have been a
bit of a movement through the common today that we may be caught the tail-end
of. IW arrived before me and there was a lot of activity around the enclosure, which
included the Green Sandpiper - over, Redstart, some Chiffchaffs, Reed Bunting and a tit
flock (see sightings). By the time we got the nets up these seemed to have
moved on. Blackcap appeared to be still about though. The first Firecrests of
the year this session, a bit later than usual. Unusually no phylos warblers
ringed.
Present: JL,IW.
Weather: sunny bright, warm, mostly
calm.
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up
from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.
Lures audio: (Warbler), (Misc Migrants), (RT), (GH) intermittently.
Recaptures: (00
Sightings: No hirundine or Swift
seen. Many species recorded by IW before JL arrived. Again, few Butterflies and
Dragonflies about given the hot weather.
