First Redwing this Autumn
The first Redwing of the year for me, many flocks flying about including heard over in the fog. Three in net on the first round, one got out before I could get to it. The rest of the morning was steady with one or two birds each round. A couple Chiffchaff, a Blackcap still on the move; it is getting late compared with previous years Main capture of Goldcrest  is about normal for mid October. The Firecrest is the second this autumn. No sign of winter finches. Otherwise fairly quiet except for two Snipe flying over. It was noticeable that there were less Wren and Dunnock calling than recently.
