A
walk today from Haysoms Drive as far as the pickle factory and back via Fire Plane Gravel
and Brackenhurst Heath (07:50 to 10:50hrs) produced the following list:
Sightings 48 Species:
Mostly singing males: Stonechat
being quite secretive probably females laying or sitting.; lack of Chaffinch notable; first Cuckoo for here and Garden Warbler.
After 50 years of not seeing Berkshire Ring Ouzle saw two last week on the common and two
more on the heath northwest of the pickle factory today, where I saw one last
Monday. Wheatear were all on the Fire Plane Gravel, Nightingale singing in the
usual scrub. Not seen the Ring Plover pair, female was on a nest, since the Easter
break so they have probably deserted for the third year running; the pair that
took up territory on the gravel at Lower Farm GP have also gone; six Little
Ringed Plover there instead Saturday 18th
