Notes: Did not intend to
ring today but weather forecast for the rest of the week looks pretty dire so
thought I had better make sure of at least one session this week. There were quite
heavy rain clouds when I arrived and after a rainy night it looked promising
for a good capture. The cloud lifted and the threat of more rain disappeared.
The scrub was very quiet and  with no response to the audio it did not look good. The first
birds captured or seen in the enclosure were two Whitethroat and a Chiffchaff.
With a steady trickle of responding birds and the possibility of a movement of
migrants in numbers dropping in at any time hopes were high. The Green
Woodpecker proved to be the best bird of the day though. A couple of walks
through the surrounding heath land showed there not to be many birds about.
The change in audio from a the hoped for Restart to Garden Warbler produced
two of these. With the dire weather supposedly coming our way it seem that
migration may have gone on hold until the front has passed. It was windy for about 50% of the session so probably missed a few birds
Sightings 30 Species: Fairly quite
as usual; have not seen a Raven over for a while though. Looks like the
Kestrel pair produced at least two young.
