24/01 Greenham Common Feeder

Headlines: We erected nets in the misty, damp, breezy conditions that seem to coincide with the weekends for most of this winter. Towards the end of the session it brightened up and was quite pleasant and “warm” for the time of year. Redpoll and tits made up most of the mornings capture with a few goldfinch, Siskin, Great Spotted Woodpeckers etc, and a goldcrest and blackbird from the gorse net. A 5 year 71d since ringing Marsh Tit the best bird. Spotting the sparkly blue tits from the plain made for extra interest.
Weather: mizzle early and breezy, brightening up later.

Nets: 63 metres in 6 rides: a 12m each side of feeders, a 12m, 9m and 6m in scrub and a 12m out of the compound in the gorse, up from 08:00 to 11:00 hrs

Sightings 33 Species: The were a few gulls moving west, and three displaying buzzards flew low over us, otherwise most were flying about.
