26/02 Haysoms Feeder

Location: Haysoms Feeder
Session: 26-Feb-2016 07:15 to 09:45 hrs
Headlines: I noticed yesterday that many birds were visiting my garden in the half light of dawn so this morning I decided to put a net up early. I missed the first few birds who arrived very early probably aided by the nearby street light that illuminates my garden through the night. A good capture of siskin, several birds bounced out of the net, including the ringed male Bullfinch. The net is a Gundry; kinder to the birds but not so good at holding as modern nets. There looks to have been a change of Dunnock since both captures were un-ringed. I walked over to the Fire Plane Gravel after topping up the Greenham Feeder as I saw that Mike Taylor had a ringed plover there. There is a pair there today so have started my first nest record. I wonder if they will survive the Park Race tomorrow! I had a run in with a photographer at Snelsmore who was stood with a telephoto equipped camera about 3 metres from the feeder. Apparently he was cold stood on the car park. Of course he refused to move as it was public land and he needed to get a good photo apparently. He couldn't make the connect with his presence and the lack of birds. I despair!
