Headlines: Over-slept again so
started later than intended. It was quiet early with few birds about. As can
be seen from the captures there appeared to be a movement of Willow Warblers
through, all 1st CR birds. Interestingly until this session the majority of
this species captured have been adults. There was little noticeable movement
of other species in fact except for the Chiffchaff all the other species were
captured in the last 30 minutes of the session. Had intended to stay later but
the wind increased to the point where it was probably limiting the capture and
any caught would have been unnecessarily buffeted about.

Age Range: all 1st CR except the
adult Blue Tit.
Sightings 32 Species: on another
quiet morning. A Buzzard was calling for most of the morning and attracted the
attention of the local crows. Goldfinch and Linnet number continue to drop as
they disburse further afield. Mostly singles of Swallow drifted south with
one or two straight through. A least four Stonechats present, may have been
five and no sign of any Dartford Warblers; couldn’t locate any on my early
morning walk over the whole common last Sunday. Until now they have been
fairly easy to find. Apart from a scolding Whitethroat when I arrived there
was little sign of any activity in the bushes, unlike the last session. Except
for the Whitethroat and a calling Chiffchaff the only other warblers seen were
those captured.
