Session: 06-Sep-2016 07:00 to
11:00hrs
Headlines: A good session today with
a steady flow of captures. Still some Willow Warbler about and a few
Whitethroat. It was noticeable that all bar one of the Willow Warblers carried
substantial amounts of fat (Fat score 3 and 4) while the Chiffchaffs carried
little or no fat (fat score 0 and 1) Not sure what it tells us except perhaps
that the former were mid-movement before having to feed up and the latter were
on stop over to refuel. Both sylvia warblers species carried variable amounts
of fat. No tit flocks seen or heard just the odd individual or pair.
Weather: overcast, warm, occasionally
few spots of rain, calm with a breeze late in session

Sightings 31 Species: It was
really quiet activity-wise today. No gull or geese movements seen and the only
finch detected was Goldfinch. There was some migrant activity in the scrub and
the Dartford Warblers were mobile moving back a forth each side of the
enclosure. The only Stonechats seen were at the eastern end of the grassy
area. The Woodlark made a last minute appearance as we took our equipment back
to the Xtrail. Rodney A reported three Wheatear and two Whinchat out on the
heath when biking round the common. Two Raven possibly the pair seen around Lower Farm GP recently flew south.
