25/11 Bagnor Feeder

Location: Bagnor Feeder

Headlines: Another relatively quiet visit particularly compared to last year’s matching visit. We did see a couple of winter finches drop down towards the feeders but did not capture them. Numbers remain low.  Three pulli from Mount Hill is good though and they were all from 2016. One was an adult ringed when brooding her chicks. Both Long-tailed Tit were ringed on the same day and had consecutive numbers.
Weather: Sunny, bright, cold, calm where sheltered by surrounding hills.

Nets: 12metres one 6m net each side of feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeder): Peanuts, Black Sunflowers, Fat Balls

Matching Visit
45 Birds
(20-Nov-2015)
Recaptures:  (6) Blue Tit 183d pulli from box C01, 178d Adult from Box D03A Great Tit 172d pulli from box B01 all boxes at Mount Hill about 1 to 2kMs away, Long-tailed Tit 2 both ringed 1y 13days ago, others recent.

Sightings 30 Species: Quite a lot of gull movement today, mostly Lesser Black-backed Gulls that seemed to be patrolling around the fields looking for food. Fieldfares were generally heading north with a few Redwings. One largish flock of the latter went east. A lone Yellowhammer over calling is the first here for some while.
