Location: Greenham
Common Western Enclosure
Session: 19-Sep-2017 08:00 to
10:20hrs
Headlines: First day allowed out
after an enforced three week break (lung infection) Didn’t rush to meet the
dawn. There was a lot of activity in the bushes around the enclosure when I arrived,
it looks promising. A good capture of Blackcap and a few Chiffchaff. The
Lesser Whitethroat was unexpected and late for this species. We had a good
look at it to make sure it wasn’t Siberian! I think I may have missed some good birds since the
beginning of the month though. It was good to get out and an enjoyable session, would have stayed longer but was very tired by 10:00hrs, took me all day to recover.
Weather: Sunny periods, calm
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:15 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap Chiffchaff
Goldcrest Firecrest Yellow-browed Warbler, Whitethroat Redstart
intermittently.

Recaptures: No recaptures
Lesser Whitethroat 1st year
Sightings 25 Species: No hirundine today, lots of activity in the scrub mostly Blackcap and the flock of Goldfinch, Didn't expect to see the Whitethroat or the Lesser Whitethroat. There was a tit flock moving north when I arrived, just to late to capture any of them. Pied
Wagtails seen on the way off the common.
