Session: 24-Jul-2018 06:40 to
10:15hrs
Headlines: Capture was slow
today, and no obvious movement although the few phylos warblers captured did
arrive together mid-session. One or two non-target species captured some part
of a mixed tit flock that crossed west of the enclosure. As there were a few Swallows about we tried playing the song and attracted
up to five individuals but they could see the nets blown by the breeze except
for one female; not sure I had the audio in the right place. I tied it to the
pole but think it might be more successful in the scrub. Not many Sylvia warblers today. The reason I have no 2017 matching visits is that I was on holiday until early August.
Weather: Sunny, calm, warm
early, scattered cloud, light breeze, hot later
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18M, 18M 12M up from 07:00 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap,
Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, willow Warbler, Garden Warbler, Whitethroat,
Lesser Whitethroat, Redstart, Swallow intermittently
