07/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk27)
Session: 07/07/2023 07:40 to 11:00hrs
Todays noisy juvenile Reed Warbler
Notes: Intended to do last Tuesday 4th but took too much notice of the weather forecast the night before which was for wet and windy while it was overcast and calm and would have been ideal for ringing. It got warm quickly today and we had a good variety of species that included the first Blackcaps and Garden Warblers here and another Lesser Whitethroat. That’s five so far this year and we’ve not reached the normal peak week yet (week 33 and 34); maximum ringed at this site is 11 in 2019. The unusual species today was a juvenile Reed Warbler, we’ve ringed 15 here since 2013.
Present: JL,IW
Weather: bright sunny clear, warm, light breeze to calm
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures: Warblers, Misc Migrants, GH, RT intermittently.
