Session: 12-Oct-2016 07:45 to
10:20hrs
Headlines: It began spotting
with rain as we finished erecting the nets but then eased and a Chiffchaff the
only capture on the first round. Ian noticed a Song Thrush drop in from very
high and also several Blackbirds dropped down. We captured two very dark immature
males; possibly continentals though wing length was in the normal range of
the locals birds. One or two Chiffchaff followed and a Goldcrest and Wren. While watching
from the Xtrail a flock worked its way along the scrub consisting mostly of Long-tailed
Tits. On the next round we had capture some of this flock including two Long-tailed
Tits previously ringed 19-Oct 2012 and 11-Jul-2014. Some of the many over flying Redwings
reacted to the Latvian audio but none captured; a large flock grounded on Sandleford Heath was put up by walkers . With rain threatening again we decided to stop at 10:00hrs.

some light rainy periods and a few sunny spells.
