Location: Greenham
Common Western Enclosure
Session: 14-Oct-2016 07:45 to
10:20hrs
Headlines: After about three
weeks of trying a Yellow-browed Warbler responded to the audio and a happy
trainee as both Ian and myself had ringed this species before. Otherwise capture
was much the same as the last few days with a single Blackcap and Blue Tit,
Chiffchaff and Goldcrest in equal numbers also a Reed Bunting.
Weather: Overcast, some blue
sky, cool, mostly calm.
Present: JL, GB, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:00hrs.
Lure (audio): Blackcap,
Chiffchaff, Firecrest, Goldcrest, Yellow-browed Warbler, Redpoll, Grey Wagtail
intermittently.
Capture (New/Recapture) 15 (15/0) : Blackcap
1/0, Blue Tit 1/0, Chiffchaff 5/0, Goldcrest 5/0, Reed Bunting 1/0, Wren 1/0,
Yellow-browed Warbler 1/0
Recaptures: none
Age Range: all 1st CY
Todays Yellow-browed Warbler the second for Greenham Common one also captured in Oct 2013
Sightings 32 Species: Much less
movement than yesterday. The flock of Greylag Geese is interesting, they were
quite a tight flock so perhaps not local. The Redwing flock is still on the
heath. No winter finches today and still no Fieldfare.
