01/12 Bagnor Feeder

Location: Bagnor Feeder
Session: 02-Dec-2016 07:45 to 11:30hrs
Headlines: The food at all the feeders is being taken at a much faster rate now. It looked like we might get a better capture today and we started off well with a capture of nine, one Dunnock and the rest Blue Tit. The rest of the session though was back to normal for this year so far with just one sometimes two each net round.  There were fewer Great Tits this session compared to this seasons November visits. The matching capture from the 2015/16 winter is later in the month (15/11) due to unsuitable weather at the beginning of December even so a lot more birds were captured including a number of finches.
Weather: Overcast, poor visibility, cool, calm.
Present: JL, GB
Nets: 12metres one 6M each side of feeder.
Lure (feeder): Peanuts, Black Sunflower, Fat Balls

Sightings 30 Species: A flock of 50+ Siskin with a few Redpoll was the first substantial winter finch flock seen here this year. A small flock of Redwings with the odd Fieldfare made up the list of winter visitors. A least two Water Rail calling from the cress beds are the first heard here this year. The 100+ gathering of Jackdaw is still feeding in the game strip on Mount Hill and a lot more Pheasants than of late in the field early morning, possibly the shoot has released more.
