22/01 Snelsmore Common Feeder

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder
Session: 22-Jan-2017 07:45 to 11:20hrs
Headlines: It was a lot colder than I expected today. The capture was slow, a few each round. Two Blue Tits from the same brood (still together) is notable and a Nuthatch pulli is also good. As with the Greenham Feeder robin seems to have zoned in; interestingly they were adults that we captured, one 4years 65days from ringing and not recaptured in the interim. It is a bit of an event this year when we exceed the capture of the matching 2016 visit we even exceeded, just, the Blue Tit total.
Weather: Cold hard frost calm bright sun when it rose above the tree line.
Present: JL, IW, DL
Nets: 12metres a 6 metres net each side of feeders up from 08:05 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeder): Fat Ball, Black Sunflower, Niger, Peanut.
Capture (New/Recapture)
34 (20/14)
Matching 2016 visit 23/01 28(13/15)
