04/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 04-Oct-2017 07:30 to 10:30hrs
Headlines: At the tail end of summer migration so fewer warblers about and Goldcrest today the most captured species. One or two resident species were on the move, overall though a fairly quiet session.
The matching 2016 visit contrasts in that a good number of Chiffchaffs still being captured and just one Goldcrest. Also, Redwings captured whereas so far this year apart from one or two over-flying Siskin and Redpoll there is little sign of any winter migrants.
Weather: Overcast cool, light breeze early, brightening up, calmer and warmer mid-session becoming overcast cooler a breezy towards the end of the session.

Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Yellow-browed Warbler, Siskin, Redpoll and Meadow Pipit intermittently.

Recaptures: No recaptures

Sightings 29 Species: two Ravens flew over early and Woodlark singing, several probably migrant Song Thrushes flying about, best birds two Common Gulls flying west, Woodlark  in song as for the last two visits, Meadow Pipit numbers building but not responding to calls yet
