Common Estovers Car Park West Scrub Session:06-Oct-2017 07:45 to
10:40hrs Headlines:As it was breezy out
on the common I turned back and ringed in the scrub to the west of Estovers car park entrance; it is relatively sheltered from the wind there. I have only ringed here once
recently and did quite well with one net. This time we put up an extra net
that has potential when the winter thrushes arrive. The twelve Goldcrests included
a long winged (57mm) individual carrying some fat. A couple of
Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps were oblivious to the audio. Nice to capture a few
Blackbirds and the Song Thrush. The Estovers feeder is quite busy considering
I only put up the full set of feeders this week, hopefully we shall have
a better winter than 2016/17. The Snelsmore Common feeder was busy when I topped up the feeders after this session. The Bagnor Feeders are not up yet, have a meeting with the new owner of the field this weekend so fingers crossed! Weather: Breezy, cool, sunny,
clouding over later Present:JL, IW Nets:30M in two rides of
18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:10hrs Lure (audio):Blackcap,
Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Yellow-browed Warbler, Redwing, Siskin,
