21/03 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common 616(Estovers) feeder
Session: 21-Mar-2018 07:30 to 11:20hrs
Headlines: The final visit to this feeder and another disappointing capture, the same as last year’s equivalent but more variety!!. Apart from this and last winter this feeder has been very good. We moved it about 10metres from being out on the grass to a cleared area in the scrub before the 2016/17 winter and it seems not to have worked. Despite it being less exposed the birds seem to be able to see the nets plus we don’t seem to have many winter finches around the common this winter. Maybe the fates are telling me something.
Weather: bright sunny, cool, calm, ground frost early
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 54metres 12M and 12M in gorse scrub and 10M, 12M and 12M around feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeder): niger, niger, black sunflower, peanuts, black sunflower
