01/04 Thatcham Marsh LNR

Location: Thatcham Marsh LNR
Session: 01-Apr-2018 07:30 to 11:00hrs
Headlines: A pre CES visit to the LNR site. Bridge over stream is a concern; one jetty is live and the other sinking and very slippery. Without JHW we probably would not have crossed. Not much activity on the reed bed apart from Cetti’s Warblers who were quite active and vocal. No migrants captured despite there being a good number of Chiffchaff feeding mostly in the scrub. Not quite up to the 2017 matching visit but perhaps an indication of how the prolonged cold wet weather is holding back migrants and the spring season.
Weather: Cold, cloudy with some sunny periods, slight breeze
Present: JL, DL, JHW, IW
Nets: 246metres a continuous reed bed ride of 192m and 42M in 3 scrub rides of 18m, 12m and 12m up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lure (none):
