Session: 06-Sep-2018 07:00 to
11:00hrs
Headlines: It was nice to be
joined by Alex Lord a ringer who is staying in Newbury for a few weeks before
moving to Cornwall. We captured mostly Blackcaps with a couple of Chiffchaffs
and three Willow Warblers and, for this site, the sixth Lesser Whitethroat of
the season. Also, two each of Blue and Great Tits, these have become quite
regular here recently and are mostly new singletons; not seen the usual
Autumn tit flocks on Greenham Common so far this season. As they normally fly
quite high over the heath between treelines, a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker
was an unexpected capture. Another enjoyable session even though a very
talkative bird photographer slowed the nets down process somewhat.
Weather: bright, sunny, light
breeze, warm.
Present: JL, AML
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18m, 18m, 12m, up from 07:30 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): playlists: warblers,
Miscellaneous Migrants, Redstart, shuffled intermittently.
