Session: 09-Sep-2018 07:00 to
11:20hrs
Headlines: Another audio powered
session almost match last week’s total. We might have beat it, had we not
stopped at 10:30hrs to clean the rides, these had collapsed in somewhat over the
last few weeks. Another good Blackcap capture, but only about 65% of last weeks
total, more Chiffchaff this week, over twice as many. Still a few acrocephalus
about, 9 Reed Warblers and a Sedge Warbler. Notable captures are: Great
Spotted Woodpecker and Kingfisher, we once ringed sometimes double figure
numbers here of the latter in August/September but they are rarely captured these days. The Song
Thrush was the first detected here for some weeks. No matching2017 visit; must
have been on holiday or unsuitable weather conditions!
Weather: Bright, sunny,
breezy, warm
Present: JL, DL, JHW, RGS,
RDW, IW
Nets: 228metres in three
rides 198m reed bed ride, 18m scrub ride, 12m scrub ride up from 07:45 to
10:30hrs
Lure (audio): playlist: warbler,
miscellaneous migrants, Reed Bunting
