Session: 14-Nov-2018 07:30 to 10:45hrs
Notes: Went to site yesterday morning intending to ring, it was quite
windy. The decision not to ring was made when I found that I had left my poles
at home. It was overcast early and breezy, so I put a cut down three shelf net
in the most exposed ride; it captured a lot of leaves. Unexpected was a female
Blackcap and Chiffchaff on the first round, also a Goldcrest. After a Robin and
another Goldcrest and for much of the rest of the session the breeze increased
in strength. We nearly took the nets down at 10:00hrs, but an easing of the
breeze tempted us to stay until 10:30hrs. It was quite pleasant with some
warmth in the sunny periods until it became breezy again. Last year’s matching
session was a little better.

Today's latish phylos: the ear coverts have a tan wash but it is a Common Chiffchaff
Sightings 31 Species: several flocks of Woodpigeon drifting south was the
main feature of the morning and a Stonechat pair appeared after a couple of weeks of going undetected. The winter thrush passage is slowing, hopefully some that will respond to the audio will arrive soon.
