Session: 15-Nov-2018 07:40 to
11:20 hrs
Notes: I was hoping that the
forecast for it being foggy this morning might be true, but it wasn’t. It was
overcast and quite dank though. A calling Chiffchaff lifted my expectation a
little. I saw it moving towards the enclosure and I saw it leave and disappear
into woodland. By 09:10hrs the capture was just three Goldcrest. I walked
around a lot and there being little activity on the heath was preparing to take
the nets down at 10:00hrs. As they often do things quickly changed when a Long-tailed
Tit flock arrived. Seven with two more Goldcrest were captured. These
processed a return to the nets produced six more, another Goldcrest, three
Blue Tits and a very smart looking male Blackcap. Soon after these were
processed it got very breezy and was blowing a bit of a gale as I took the
nets down.

Long-tailed Tit two ringed 03-Oct-2018
Sightings 31 Species: I might have
missed some birds when doing the tit flock, but it was fairly quiet with just a
few birds flying about. That is until just as I was leaving when a mixed flock of
winter thrushes flew west and a small flock of Canada Geese went north with a Greylag Goose. Earlier a Song thrush a two Great Tits sang for a while and the Brambling flew east hopefully to the Greenham Feeder.
