Session: 12-May-2019 06:00 to
11:00hrs
Notes: On this visit we had a
good selection of species. It seems that there are more Blackcaps breeding in
the scrub along the stream. Some older recoveries included: a 2014 Cetti’s
Warbler, a 2013 Dunnock, a 2015 Robin and a 2016 Wren. We captured the first
juvenile, a Long-tailed Tit with an adult; we missed the rest of the troupe. A
few more captured than last year and included some newly arrived Reed and
Sedge Warblers. Four Reed Bunting is unusual, this species has usually sussed
out the nets by now. The cut reed area is probably affecting the numbers
caught; phragmites is still only about 300mm high.
Weather: Bright, sunny, clear,
cool, calm
Present: JL, DL, GB, IW
Nets: 254metres: One 198m
standard net ride, additional rides 36m ride in scrub and 18m ride in reed, up
from 06:45 to 10:45hrs
Lure ( ): none
