10/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 10-Jul-2019 07:00 to 11:00hrs
Notes: I strimmed the rides and did a bit of tidying up before nets up. This is the first session of the year using audio lures; forgot to charge some of the MP3 players so not able to play the full range. Great Tits appeared to be disbursing. The ten captured were not in any sort of flock but individuals crossing the heath throughout the session. We did capture a few of the flock or charm of Goldfinches that landed to feed on weed seed in the enclosure. A promising prelude to the migration season.
Weather: sunny periods, calm, warm
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 07:45 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): Warblers, Misc Migrants intermittently

Sightings 25 Species: Bird song has mostly stopped except for Chiffchaff. Most other warbler’s presence came from ringing captures. Stonechats seemed to have moved away from the enclosure, at least they were not detected today.
