Session: 29-Aug-2019 07:30 to
10:50 hrs
Notes: A quiet day with
limited activity. I did get some Swallows buzz the nets but no luck again. Cattle
were grazing nearby on the grassland so had hopes of Yellow Wagtail, none detected
though. A steady flow of two to four birds per round interspersed with a few
blanks. Had a chat with friend that I had not seen since I left
school!
Weather: early morning mist
clearing to sunny periods, cool early, warm later, calm to light breeze.
Present: JL
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 07:45 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): misc. migrants,
warblers, redstart, swallow intermittently

GRETI pulli ringed 07/05/2019 box PK18 about 1KM SE
Sightings 21 Species: probably missed some even though I had plenty of time
between rounds walking about. The Sparrowhawk I flushed on to the fence when
walking back from checking the grassland again. It was an immature male
attracted by the lures. He made at least two runs through the scrub in the
enclosure while I was extracting and taking down the nets; think he hit the
top of the net just above me once. It was something quite big but it had gone
before I could look up from the Blue Tit I was taking out of the net.
