Session: 30-Aug-2019 07:45 to
10:30 hrs
Notes: I had originally
intended to check nest boxes today, a visit that I postponed in July. Unfortunately
I forgot to check with the estate and so did another session at the enclosure
instead. Glad I did as the first bird in the net was an immature male
Redstart. To date those seen this passage have been towards the east of the
common and I was beginning to think I might miss out this season. Also of note
is the eleventh Lesser Whitethroat; they must have had a good year somewhere.
The whole session was wind affected. A gust as I was taking an 18metres net down
caught me off-balance and caused me to stumble it was so strong!
Weather:
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 07:45 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): misc. migrants,
warblers, redstart, Swallow( part), House Martin (part); intermittently
