Session: 28-Jan-2020 07:40 to
11:30hrs
Notes: I had intended to
ring here Sunday 26th. It was not raining when I left home. On the way the rain
began misting on to the windscreen and by the time I arrived it was tipping it
down, so I cancelled. Returning home I had a coffee and started doing some
work on the NDOC report. About 08:45hrs I looked out the window and it was a
bright sunny morning. Today’s visit was very disappointing. I am not sure what
the problem is with this feeder but the number of birds visiting is very low. No
winter finches, just a few local Goldfinches and Greenfinches and they
are wary of the nets. I haven’t seen a Redpoll this year yet and not more than
three or four Siskins. I notice that one or two people are reporting them on
their feeders in the east of the county, so hopefully some will turn up before April. I've a good store of niger waiting! Maybe a better session next time.
Weather: sunny, cold, breezy.
Present: JL, IW, JPM
Nets: 24metres in 3 nets two 6M nets at feeders and 12M in gorse scrub, up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (Feeder):Niger, Peanut, Black
Sunflower
