30/06 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 30-Jun-2020, 06:45 to 09:15hrs
Notes: Arrived earlier than usual but it was spotting with rain, so I strimmed the rides, by which time it had stopped. Erected nets and turned on lures; had few issues getting them going. We captured two or three a net round. Occasionally it spotted with rain. At about 09:00hrs as I entered the enclosure the spotting increased, and a quick check of the rain radar app showed that heavier rain was on its way, so we abandoned the session. Using audio pulled in a few warblers, might have done quite well it had not rained. Had what I thought to be a re-trap Willow Warbler with very abraded primaries that made the wing formula difficult; turned out to a Chiffchaff from 2019!
Weather: Overcast, cool, breezy, spotting with rain occasionally then began to get heavier .
Present: JL,IW
Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and one 12M net up from 07:30 to 09:15hrs
Lure (Audio): Warbler, Misc Migrants, Redstart, intermittently

Recaptures: (1) Chiffchaff ringed 10/07/2019
Sightings 31 Species: Stonechat family still around enclosure, Dartford Warbler calling while erecting nets.
