10/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Session: 10-Jul-2020, 07:20 to 10:45hrs

Notes: Another blustery wind affected session. It looked quite promising early as there seemed to be a few birds out on the gorse, unfortunately they soon disappeared, and the wind gained in strength making capture almost impossible.

Present: JL,IW

Weather: sunny periods, blustery wind strengthening as the session progressed.

Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and one 12M net up from 07:30 to 10:00hrs

Lure (Audio): Warbler, Misc Migrants, Redstart, Dartford Warbler, Woodlark, Stonechat intermittently.

Recaptures: none

Sightings 27 Species: Still a few of the Stonechats family about. West of the enclosure a few birds were moving along the bushes towards the enclosure. IW thought he saw a flash of a russet tail, but we were unable to relocate the bird. Later, on a walk round east of the enclosure we encounter some more birds moving through the gorse and this time we had good views of an immature Redstart , a year tick for both of us.
