11/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Session: 11-JuL-2020, 07:20 to 10:30hrs

Notes: The wind was forecast to drop today, and it was better than yesterday but still quite breezy. We had a promising start with a capture of six on the first round. Unfortunately, the wind gained in strength and reduced captures to a trickle. The Sedge Warbler was a nice surprise and the first ringed this year. Corvid and the lockdown have curtailed much of our ringing this year. The Constant Effort Site at Thatcham Marsh has been abandoned as we can’t easily socially distance and we all come from vulnerable households, so this is the first acrocephalus of the year for the group. The matching visits from 2019 for the last few sessions suggest, so far, that 2020 may have had a poor breeding outcome.
