29/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Session: 29-Jul-2020, 07:00 to 11:00hrs

Notes: Garden Warblers and Whitethroats on the move today, including several seen in addition to those ringed. We finally got to ring one of two Dartford Warblers that have been in the surrounding heathland for the last two or three weeks. Two more juvenile Stonechats brings this year’s total to 13 so far and two more Greenfinches to add to yesterday’s total of 17.

Present: JL,IW

Weather: bright sunny, warm, calm, cloud building and light breeze late in the session.

Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and one 12M net up from 07:30 to 10:30hrs

Lure (Audio): Warblers, Misc Migrants, Redstart, intermittently.

Scruffy juvenile Stonechat moulting into adult plumage



Juvenile Dartford Warbler    

Sightings 33 Species: Six more Swifts and eight Swallows over; the best count of the latter I’ve had this year.
