Common Western Enclosure Week 43
Session:26/10/2021, 07:50 to 10:50hrs
Notes: Nearly took the nets down at 10:00 as the total capture was NIL and there
was occasional light rain. When we got to the nets we had netted a Goldcrest so decided
to process it then take the nets down. On returning we found three Blue
Tits and a Great Tit in the nets, and it had stopped raining, so we completed the whole session.
Present: JL,IW
Session:
Weather: Light south-westerly breeze, stronger late in session, cloudy spotting with
rain later, cool
Nets: 48metres in 3 rides
of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures Audio: BC-CC-FC-GC, Yellow-browed Warbler, BR-LR-SK,
FF-RE
Recaptures:(01)
Great Tit ringed: 14/07/2021
Sightings: Woodpigeons going south in small groups and a largish one of 20+. A flock of
Siskins circled over in response to the audio before disappearing to the south. Small groups of
Redwings did the same, acting more like “locals” than passage birds A few finches flew over
that we were unable to ID against the light, mostly Chaffinch size. A lone Bullfinch flew high
north across the heath, a species not seen here for a while. IW heard a Chiffchaff calling
before JL arrived.
