27/03 Thatcham Marsh LNR

Location: Thatcham marsh LNR
Session: 27/03/2022 07:45 to 11:30hrs
Notes. The first session at the CES site this year. A dry run so not all nets set. Did not expect much as the acrocephalus warblers won’t be in for another week or two. Nice to get some different species, particularly Cetti’s Warbler and Reed Bunting after a winter of ringing mainly Blue Tits.
Present: JL,IW,RAD,IQ,NC
Weather: Sunny, calm, cool early clouding over and cold later
Nets: 162metres 1 Ride, 18mx9 reed bed nets up from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs
Lures: None

Recaptures:(07)

Cetti’s Warbler   ringed: 05/05/2019, 11/04/2021,17/07/2021
Chiffchaff           ringed: 14/08/2021

Wren                 ringed: 07/07/2019
Sightings: 28 Species The Goosander, a female, flew over low west calling. Two male
Blackcaps singing also a female present and a single Redwing dropped in for a few minutes.
Interesting but unknown waterfowl type and a biggish crow type fly-over avoided ID.
